Here is the link to my LiveBinder! At the end of the year the teachers have to turn in a very large binder of information to our principal so I can't wait to share this with him as an alternative to making everyone print out a large amount of unnecessary material and a great waste of paper!

http://goo.gl/S34l00 These are fantasic! So many times kids get so frustrated because of the ridiculously long URL's that they have to attempt to type in and 9 times out of 10 mess up a character along the way and they can't get to the site anyway! Very excited to share with the students how to do this!
This would be a wonderful tool to use in the classroom! So many of our students have a difficult time reading or staying focused to follow along. If they could listen to it or listen and follow along with the text that would be wonderful! We have a high population of ELL students at our school and this would be a great resource to use for them because most of them do well with reading but are lacking in speaking and writing. It would also work well to assist special education students!
Thing 6 was a little tricky to do at work. We don't have webcams at work and only a handful of students have email addresses to be able to send them invites to be able to join things so it made things a little difficult. I ended up working with colleague using Google Hangouts. We discussed topics, articles, and ideas that I could use for typing lessons for my students. Again, everyone who has done any of the online programs/websites really enjoy that they don't have to physically meet up anywhere, that they can just stay in their rooms on their own computer. I was able to get some good material to use in their typing lessons to make it more meaningful for them as they type. Hopefully typing and reading the text will help reinforce the things they are learning in their core classes!
I am hoping to take on Google Drive for my classroom modification. I spoke with both our school principal and our district technology coordinator about setting up gmail accounts for the students.
I used Lino to collect resources for Social Studies that both myself and the students could use to do a variety of computers activities (graphs and formulas in Excel, brochures in Word, and presentations in PowerPoint and Prezi.
Meeting online was so convenient for everyone! Being able to stay in your own room and still be able to collaborate with staff members was great! With everyone being so busy I think everyone would be more willing to do it if they could use an online format!
I thoroughly enjoyed exploring the Symbaloo program! Instead of just listing the websites on my page like I usually do it makes it much more fun to look at and with it being visual, the students loved it! I will definitely be using this in my classroom from now on. We'll be doing a cyberbullying unit at the end of the quarter so I plan on creating one for that with all of the different sites that the students will be going on. I also like that they give you the option to post the URL or embed it onto your page. I did it both ways and my class preferred embedding it on the site so they could just click on the links right there.
As far as Dropbox goes I was fortunate enough to have found out about it in one of my master's classes and have used it for the last couple of years. I also use Dropittome for the students to submit their work to me. This has been invaluable in my computer class! They love that everything can be done virtually and that they can submit their work anywhere that they have Internet access and I love that I never have a pile of paper to take home and grade! |
