I use Weebly for my classroom and love it. I tried out WikiSpaces and Edublogs but still think I prefer using Weebly as the main online presence for my classroom. I do want to try out Moodle though. One of our teachers goes to a training for it this summer so I am planning on doing that so I set up my class and see how it goes! The URL for my classroom site is www.strongcomputers.weebly.com.
Taking the quiz was a great way to see the gaps in my basic knowledge and understanding of where I should be at with technology. I chose to focus on something that my students need to work on as well, typing. So many of the programs that you can get for education are very expensive and my budget is very limited so it was great to get some resources that are free!
I decided to try out TypingClub. My students are all practicing typing for when the standardized test will be online next year and they'll have to type in their written response so my principal wants keyboarding to be the focus this year in computers. The accounts were very easy to set up and so far the students are enjoying using it more than the website (Typing Web) that we practiced with last year. I really like that it creates your own unique URL for the class to go directly to. We've been using it for a week now and the students and myself are doing really well. It's a very easy to follow format and the reports are great! I have always been a slow typist so I am able to practice along with the students which is great! We turn it into a little competition and they all try to beat me :-) |
